Deep Cove Stage Society 50th Anniversary Celebration

Join us on the afternoon of June 22nd, 2025 as we formally celebrate our 50th Anniversary. There will be memories, music and food!  As part of the afternoon celebrations, we will be featuring performances by “The Old Broadsway Trio” and “Rock Paper Moon”!

The event will be free to attend – however to help us know how many people to expect, we are asking everyone to register for a free “ticket” here.

The Old Broadsway trio was launched in the summer of 2018. For over 20 years, founder and arranger, Barb Brolly, had envisioned creating a ‘hip’ senior (aged 65+) trio for the purpose of providing entertainment at seniors’ retirement residences. Barb shared her vision with musical theatre actress and singer, Peggy Busch in 2018 when they were cast-mates in Highlands United Productions’ The Music Man, and persuaded her to come on board. Peggy then introduced Barb to multi-talented singer and keyboardist, Marilyn Rushton, and she was invited to round out the trio. The three bonded in harmony on many levels and had soon developed an extensive set list. Like most other live performance groups, the trio was on ‘pandemic hiatus’ from early 2020 until spring, 2022. Most performances are held at senior assisted living residences on the north shore (e.g., the Westerleigh Parc, Chartwell Churchill House, Hollyburn House).

Repertoire:
The trio performs a full one-hour program. The set list is varied and eclectic, and includes pop (spanning several decades, primarily 1950s- 70s), jazz and blues, with a smattering of comedy thrown in.
