The Mike Jarvis Memorial Scholarship pays tribute to our colleague who served for many years on the Board of Deep Cove Stage Society, helping to shape our policies and procedures and establish Deep Cove Stage Society as one of the major theater companies on the North Shore. Mike Jarvis had a passion and talent for theatre that was evident in the many roles he played both on stage, then as a director, and always behind the scenes handling so many tasks that needed attention. With his untimely passing in July, 2019, the Board decided to honour him and his almost 40 years of unwavering dedication by setting up this scholarship in his name to be given in perpetuity each year to a deserving Arts student. The recipient will be a resident of the North Shore who is enrolled in studies in the Performing Arts field, not limited to acting but encompassing technical fields as well. We hope to encourage Arts students to pursue their enthusiasm for the theatre as Mike did for so many.
A bursary of $2,500.00 will be awarded annually.
Submissions will be received from January 1st to April 30th of each year.
This annual scholarship is available to any resident of the North Shore who has participated in the Theatre Arts in any capacity and intends to further their studies in theatre arts.
This scholarship of $2,500.00 will be applicable towards any year of Theatre Arts studies at a college or university or recognized theatre training program.
The scholarship will be awarded in late spring for studies starting in the fall of the same year. Applications will be received from January through April 30st. The applications will then be reviewed in May and the scholarship will be awarded in the month of June.

Applications will be adjudicated by three members in good standing of Deep Cove Stage Society, two of whom are current members of the Board.
A recommendation will be presented to the full Board at the May meeting. The award will be presented in June. The recipient must agree to participate in any publicity regarding the scholarship award, which might consist of a post on our website, in our newsletter, and/or an article in the local newspaper.
The decision of the Board is final.
